LaRue Tactical OBR 7.62 Overview:

View Individual State Variances

The LaRue OBR (Optimized Battle Rifle) was built from the ground up, using a newly designed upper-receiver platform, combined with a lower, inspired from our successful 5.56 MM lower. Both the upper and lower are CNC-machined from billet, for the optimum fit and consistency. The receiver components are designed with more material in critical areas to alleviate known issues of weakness in 7.62 platforms and to stiffen the receiver....translating into maximum accuracy.

The upper-rail provides generous room for all issue weapon-mounted night-vision day/night combinations (suitable for 7.62 MM). The built-in 20 MOA cant provides correct ballistic orientation for all inline night vision combinations. The MIL-STD-1913 side rails are detachable, so that they can be configured for Vis / IR illuminators, etc, or left off to keep rails pristine, without the need for bulky rail covers. The bottom rails are also detachable, and can be positioned anywhere along the entire lower length, for the interface of MIL-STD-1913 equipped bipods, grips, tripod mounts, etc. These rails are offered as spare parts for field-service replacement, keeping repair cost at a minimum.

Barrels:
Available in 16.1", 18" & 20" lengths. All gas blocks feature our unique Port Selector Technology (PST), a two-point adjustable gas selector that allows optimum function between suppressed, and unsuppressed operation at the flip of a switch. All barrels are threaded in 5/8 x 24, with an A2-type flash hider attached (other muzzle devices can be added at an additional cost).

Suppressor Compatibility:
LaRue 7.62 rifles with Port Selector Technology (PST) have been optimized for best-performance with SureFire suppressors. We understand that there are dozens of 7.62 suppressors to choose from on the market at this time. We feel that SureFire suppressors fall somewhere in the middle-range in regards to effect of performance with gas-operated rifles. Many users have met with success operating different models of their choice. Combined with variables in ammunition, 7.62 suppressor owners have experienced a large spectrum of conditions (much greater than seen with 5.56 suppressors). This range of variables is easy to manage with a bolt-action 7.62, but with a gas-operated system it is not. While we made a concerted effort to design a gas system that will work with a wide range of suppressors, we can not guarantee proper-function with suppressor hardware other than SureFire.

Internals:
The Bolts and Bolt Carriers are hand-polished hard-chrome with staked carrier keys. The carrier key contact areas are designed for zero gas leakage.

About LaRue Firearm Accuracy:
LaRue accuracy is known world-wide. The accuracy of each LaRue Rifle is proven at our 100-yard tunnel using match-grade ammunition. No LaRue firearm can leave the facility unless it obtains accuracy of less-than 1 MOA (1.047”) at 100 Yards. Each firearm ships with a copy of a 3-round group obtained from that actual firearm. While we guarantee the rifle is capable of sub-MOA accuracy, we can not guarantee the end-user will be able to shoot sub-MOA…since we have no control over shooting proficiency, familiarity with the system, ammunition choice, environmental factors, etc. LaRue firearms are precision instruments that require discipline, training, proper ammunition and maintenance to yield the best results.

Furniture:
Base Model comes complete with A2 Rifle Stock and LaRue medium A-PEG™ Grip, A2 Flash Hider, plus two LaRue-made 20-round magazines.

XTRAXN™ is a proprietary chamber feature added to reduce frictional forces caused by pressure-expanded cartridge cases bearing against chamber walls. Facilitates reliable extraction through a wide range of temperature / chamber pressure extremes. XTRAXN™ extends extractor life, while having no effect on the firearm's accuracy. All this, and it dovetails well with the OBR's world-famous accuracy.

I've owned several high end AR platform 7.62s. My new OBR is the only one that runs all the cheapy NATO ammo without a bobble, a big deal when you consume lots of ammo for multigun matches. Drop in match grade ammo and you get great groups. A lot of money and worth every penny.

A beautiful gun that delivers far more than great looks. I mounted on top a Bushnell 3.5-21x50 FFP with Horus H59 Reticle. Today was my first day as a rifleman sighting this machine in at 100 yards. Once sighted this thing believes in saving the trees and will attempt to put all its lead through the same hole. My biggest 5 shot group was less than 1/2 inch. My friends which are ex-military snipers recommended this system to me and they are in love as well, but ofcourse they were even more accurate with it. They simply called it "Cheating". Thanks "Larue Tactical" and "Elite Arms" in Manteca Ca

What an epic piece of machinery. I bought the 16 OBR and got to try it out in a long range match on the second day I owned it. I sighted it in at 100 yards and to my surprise, put all 5 rounds though a hole that can be covered by a penny. With my Leupold 6.5-20x I effortlessly hit a half torso at 970 yards. Great job Larue! You have a customer for life.

So I took my OBR 7.62 to the range today and it is wicked scary crazy accurate. I have owned many high end rifles and have not had a rifle even come close to the accuracy of this rifle. I have the Nightforce NXS 3.5-15 mounted on the rifle. Once I sighted it in I shot 3 round groups and wish I could upload pictures of the target. The first target all 3 rounds in the same hole. The second target were 3 shots and only 2 holes on the target that were both touching so again 1 went through the same hole. Need I say anymore. The OBR is manufactured to the highest quality and was worth the wait. My only disappointment is that I don't own a 5.56 model.

Beyond accurate, making ragged holes is the norm. Upper and lower fit together like a single piece. I've never seen another AR made like this. I have another "top tier" AR, but it really isn't. LaRue is top, everything else is just further and further away. I absolutely love my OBR!

I can't say enough good things about this rifle. Mine has a .25moa test target. And it shot as well too. We were able to get Hornady Superformance 178 to run in it on the suppressed setting and that's a match made in heaven.

I just received my OBR 7.62 WOW! Couldn't be happier, what a work of art, thx for taking the time and doing this right. I can't think of one thing I would change about it. Now I have to find a scope worthy enough to put on it, leaning towards Scmidt and Bender but the Premier looks nice too! Decisions ... Decisions. Customer for life as well!

Quality second to none!! The folks at LaRue provide outstanding customer service and the OBR 7.62 is at the apex of the SR-25/AR-10 universe. So impressed with the first one I purchased that I've added to more to my collection. I recently purchased the 7.62 TOBR and it has exceeded my expectations in a takedown rifle and it provides the same accuracy as my other OBRs. LONG LIVE LT!!!

You can't get a better AR than this, the year + wait for one is worth it. I got mine, snapped an ACOG on it and hit targets at 50 and 100 yds without even having to adjust the sight! I use it for subsonic shooting of wild hogs. Drops'em dead. The only thing they don't cover in their manual is how to adjust the gas tube for subsonic/non-subsonic with a suppressor.

Just received my second OBR and am very impressed. I had heard about barrels being made in house and was a little worried about this change. No worries now, my new OBR came with a 0.6" target, and my first 5 groups at 100 yards (all 5 shot) averaged 0.68". I have about 150 rounds through the newer OBR and 2000+ through the older one - still not a single malfunction of any kind. I shoot about 75% suppressed, and no issues with this either. Having had several other AR10 rifles in the past, the OBR is king. I cannot imagine what more one could ask for in any rifle!

Got my 16" OBR just after Christmas,2013. Bitter cold and no optics kept me from making it to the range until weekend of Mid February. Met up with a good friend (who showed me his OBR) down in OKC,and We went shooting. I had a malfunctioning ACOG TA55,(wouldn't adjust) so we pulled his Swarovski 3x9 on it. A few quick adjustments, and I quickly put 5 rounds in the same hole at 100 yards. Not far,but all we could get going that day. I've ordered a Bushnell 3.5-21x56 and mounted it up. Can't wait to get her back out to range! I'm an FFL dealer and have owned literally thousands of all types of high end guns, but this one is a keeper. THANKS for the great service, and producing such a fine machine. Clyde in St Louis...

If they had ten stars, this rifle would get them. Both Federal GMM 168 and 175's shoot one hole groups. My 13 year old son was banging prairie dog steel targets with ease at nearly 500 yards. The OBR's are the best AR rifles I have every owned. Best rifle period!!!! It was well worth the wait. Honestly, this rifles makes all others boring. it won't be my last.
