Retired Master Sergeant (MSG) Paul Howe was an Army Delta operator who served in Somalia in 1993. He served with the United States Army for approximately twenty years, ten of which were spent within the special operations community. He entered training for Delta in the mid-1980s and was a member of the Delta squadron that was deployed to Somalia as part of Task Force Ranger in August 1993.

Leadership and Training for the Fight contains numerous lessons learned during Paul Howe's career, not only in regards to leadership in the special operations community but to life in general. In addition, several events were richly described detailing his experiences during several operations, especially during Operation Gothic Serpent.
