Our Engineering Department and our Marksmanship Unit Swears by this Book
About the Book
Exterior ballistics is a very mature science. Unfortunately, many shooters have
not been able to completely access this field of knowledge because it's usually
described in highly technical language. The objective of this book is to explain
the important elements of exterior ballistics in a practical way that can be
understood and applied by shooters.
This book also offers an original contribution to the long range shooting
sports: experimentally measured Ballistic Coefficient (BC) data for over 175
long range bullets of all popular brands. With truly accurate BC's, shooters are
empowered to make very precise trajectory calculations.
Detailed dimensioned drawings are provided for each of the 175+ bullets.
Included Software
Applied Ballistics For Long Range Shooting includes a CD containing a modern
ballistics program. Combined with experimentally measured BC's, this program is
capable of modeling extremely accurate trajectory predictions as verified in
Chapter 8. This program has the unique ability to calculate spin drift using a
method described in the book.
About the Author
Bryan Litz earned his Aerospace Engineering degree from the Pennsylvania State
University in 2002. For the next 6 years, he worked for the US Air Force on
air-to-air missile design, modeling and simulation. In 2008, Bryan became the
Chief Ballistician for Berger bullets.
Bryan is also a very active and successful shooter. Some significant
accomplishments include: US National Palma Champion (2008), firing member of the
winning 2008 US Team in the Spirit of America International Rifle Match, and
National Record Holder for the NRA iron sight midrange course (450-39X).
New for the Second Edition:
Experimental test data on 61 additional bullets.
Bullet data pages now include complete stability data.
42 more pages and larger 7x10 inch format.
Two additional chapters plus expansion and correction of existing chapters.
CD contains Version 2.0 of the Point Mass Ballistics Solver with most commonly
requested upgrades.
