The PredatAR 5.56 is designed for those who are searching for a lightweight,
ultra-reliable and accurate 5.56 mm NATO rifle for home-defense,
competition-shooting or hunting. The PredatAR takes the highly accurate OBR 5.56
“Lite” design, and lightens it in every possible way with the least possible
impact to the accuracy that the standard OBR is known for. By contouring the
barrel, skeletonizing the handguard, lowering and simplifying the upper rail,
and using a low-profile gas block, we were able to reduce roughly 2 pounds from
the standard OBR 5.56 rifle.
The barrels are Stainless Steel, lightweight-profiled, Wylde chambered and feature polygonal rifling in a 1/8 twist rate. All barrels are threaded in ½ x 28, with an A2 flash hider attached* (other muzzle devices can be added at an additional cost).
The handguards on the PredatAR extend out 14.75”, to suit a larger range of
shooting styles. The zero-MOA upper rail provides plenty of room for
weapon-mounted night-vision day/night combinations. Both the upper and lower are
CNC-machined from billet 7075-T6, for the optimum fit and consistency. Even
though we lightened certain features, there is still additional material in
strategic areas to achieve maximum accuracy. Each rifle ships with one, 3” long,
MIL-STD-1913 detachable rail section.
Both models come with a 6-position Magpul MOE Stock and LaRue medium A-PEG™ Grip. The Bolt Carriers are hand-polished hard-chrome with max-staked
carrier keys, with Texas-Spec Bolt assemblies. The lower assembly has the proven
Geissele Two-Stage trigger.
(Iron Sights, Optics and QD mounts not included in price)
Base model includes OD Magpul MOE Stock and LaRue medium A-PEG™ Grip, 1 Aluminum Magazine, 1
Rail Strip, and A2 Flash Hider

Ordered one of these over the weekend and called on Monday to confirm. They told me there was a 4 1/2 lead time on the production of these rifles. Why is there nothing in place to notify you when you purchase and pay for it?
The same thing happened several months back when I tried order an Aimpoint Micro. I ordered it, and then called and asked for an estimated delivery. Their response was, "oh, we don't even HAVE those yet." Why have something up for order on your website when it's not even available or comes with a months-long lead time?
I love the quality of LaRue products and their service has always been great. They are adored on all the forums I belong to. But I've come to learn that adulation can be very fleeting, especially in today's viral environment.
Not good, LaRue. Not good at all.
By Far the BEST AR Ever! Of all the AR Platforms that I've operated till this day, my LaRue PredatAR is THE BEST! The Fit, Finish, Trigger, Grip, Everything is just PERFECT!!!!!!! Thank you LaRue Tactical for Producing the Best AR! You have a Custom for Life!!!!!!
Fit & finish is top notch! The quality is in the details...just hold it up next to the competition and the differences become very apparent. Great gun! Thank you...for proving that American manufacturing is alive and kicking!

LOVE THIS RIFLE! Cant say enough about this thing, I love being able to support a Texas based company but that's not the only reason I chose larue. I chose them because for the life of me I couldnt find anyone who had anything bad to say about their products or their customer service. I am a commited lifetime customer for this great company. Thank you for the best rifle a man could ask for.
I have run 700+ rounds through my 16.1" PredatAR 556 with the Trijicon ACOG Army Optic 4 X 32 with Green Illum w/ LaRue LT100 Mount. This rifle truly performs to advertised specifications! (-)1" groups at 100 yds with M855. I have had zero malfunctions with this rifle thus far. The ACOG and the rifle perform well together putting up great shot groups out to 300 yds so far. Target aqusisition is very fast with the ACOG, which makes for quick and fun target engagement. The Surefire 556BK compensator/ suppressor mount is no joke! The guys on the phone at LT said it keeps the muzzle in the "A" zone, and it sure as hell does! I couldn't be happier with my purchase! I will be ordering a 7.62 OBR next! Thanks for the great products and unparralled customer service! Thanks to all at LaRue Tactical for making a grunt's dreams come true!
This gun is awesome. You can see the quality from the moment you open the case and firing it confirms the initial impression. Highly recommend it to anyone who is in the market for an AR. Its my first LaRue but it won't be my last.
After owning the OBR 7.62, I knew that I had to have the PredatAR in 5.56. Both rifles are well made and are incredibly accurate. The OBR shines from the bench and long range shooting. The PredatAR offers light weight with superb accuracy. Now, I must have the PredatAR 7.62. It will be the ultimate whitetail guide gun for me.
LaRue Tactical can't be beat.
I was told 30 day wait and it showed up in 2 1/2 weeks, yeah baby.
Mounted Nikon M223- 3x12x42 on 1" non-riser mounts, after sighting in at 50yards I shot my FIRST 100yard group of 3 shots and grouped .69 of an inch with 10 MPH crosswind! Impressive to say the least.
Exceptional quality, fit and finish, got the 18" barrel.
Kudos Larue.
I'm a new owner, long-time dreamer. Sometimes expectation is unrealistic, but not when you own a LaRue. They ought to call this one a Nail-Driver. An associate advised me to get some match-grade ammo and my groups got smaller by half. You have to shoot the good stuff to realize the accuracy that the PredatAR is famous for. I've never had a weapon system that I was more proud of and one that shows my serious shooter friends that I appreciate owning the best tool for the job. I can't wait for Range Day. I'm dragging all my friends with me.
Great rifle for the money. I was told to not expect to see it for 5-6 weeks. I had it in my hands two weeks and two days later. I guess they are catching up on their backorder. I got out to shoot the rifle and it shot great, trigger is an awesome part of the rifle. Nice clean break! I mainly dealt with Luke, and he was so helpfull to me throughout the entire process. Thanks LaRue for such a great product. If I buy another AR, it will be a LaRue!
I've owned several AR15's and I honestly must say, the fit and finish are the best I've seen. The machining tolerances are so close its unbelievable. When you pull the pivot pin the upper and lower stay attached because they fit so well, you honestly have to use physical pressure to separate them. It's a love story of machinery, they want to stay together and fight it out in an epic harmony of firepower, something you truly have to hold and manipulate yourself to really appreciate. I'm absolutely 100% certain this the best AR15 currently on the market. I can't believe how accurate this gun is while only weighing 6.5lbs. Now I understand why there is such a growing fan-base to this company. I think I just turned into a fanboy. The 762 OBR is next on my list
There is simply no reason to order a rifle from anyone else. It is worth the wait time. If you live by the old west adage of "beware of the man who uses one gun, he will know how to use it." This is that one gun.
16" 5.56 PredatAR - A production rifle, although Mark and his team aren't exactly your typical production manufacturer, that shoots a myriad of ammo types from 55 gr. FMJ to 62 gr. Penetrators and consistently shoots 5 shot groups of ~1" is beyond insane!!! I can't imagine what it will do with match grade ammo, but then again with this kind of accuracy why waste the money...FANTASTIC JOB and "best bang for the buck" out there. Tim W.
best value out there, larue has hit the mark with this rifle, excellent company and craftsmanship. the 5.56 predatar is a great companion to my stealth.
I absolutely love mine, Ive been through almost every AR platform rifle to date and can honestly say, for the price, this rifle is a must have. I run this rifle suppressed and unsuppressed and it has always functioned flawlessly. It you visit LaRues facebook, my rifle is the Multicam rifle. Lightweight, Reliable, Accurate, and dead sexy makes this the hottest AR availible.
this is a great value.larue rifles are the best out there, and they are not owned by cerebus. i love my stealth and predatar. great customer service also.
Absolutely my favorite AR of the bunch. This makes number 3 for me and I was so impressed yet again that I had to order the PredatAR 7.62 to go with it. Impeccable craftsmanship and the finest group of folks you'll ever do business with. Thanks.
